Homemade Soup & Bread...

The homemade soup and bread were great...comfort food especially on a cold
winters day...we were snowed in for the Snow Storm and just worked in the downstairs
and stayed home. I got an email from Michelle...after seeing this blog...and she
shared some memories of her childhood snow days in...Romeo, MI...her and her Dad
and Jered making tunnels and forts in the snow...and how warm it was and the her
Mom brought some Hot Chocolate out to them in the fort. Ha! We still have a lot
of snow and we are getting more on Sunday 1-3 inches.
We just came back from...yep...HOME DEPOT...again. Bob, had wood cut for shelves
for the pantry and also got a closet unit for Mom's walk in closet in her
bedroom. We moved STUFF downstairs and covered it and cleaned the floors up some more... getting ready to paint soon.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

At home...enjoying the Snow Storm

We are having a snowstorm today...started snowing about 4am and it is 2:30pm
and it is still snowing...it really is so beautiful outside. So knowing the
snow was coming we planned to...yep...work downstairs...DUST CONTROL...again.
I did all the walls and drop ceilings...getting that fine powder off and Bob
is doing all the high ceilings and scrapping off all the drops of drywall mud
on the floor. Lots of work to do before we can paint all the walls...and next
week is Christmas...and we still have to prepare for that. There is no place
like home for the holidays.

Right now... I am making some Homemade Beef Vegetable Soup in my crock pot
and also I have a loaf of Home style White Bread baking in the Bread maker...yum!
When you come upstairs from downstairs...ahhh...the smells are wonderful.
Hope your staying warm and cozy today...Hot Cocoa & Cookies and a good movie
or just catching up with each other. Remember when we were kids...the snowstorms
I remember one in 1964-5...and we had to walk to the store for bread and milk.
The roads were closed down...and some of the drifts were 6 feet tall...man that
was a blast. I still love the snow!

Oh Christmas Tree...

Every heart comes home for Christmas...

When we take the time ... we are creating room for the memories that cement
lifetime friendships. But we have to make room for the memories, disciplining
ourselves to put aside the urgent in favor of the truly important.

Our Christmas tree is up ... trimmed with snow people and beautiful bulbs
and lights...last year we did the snowmen...thinking of our grandchildren in mind.
You know ... being a child at Christmas is what it is all about. They are so full of
wonder, love, forgiveness, laughter, excitement ... wanting to learn and just be
loved...remember being that child...I do and I believe...and I long to live with that child like spirit.

At this special time of year: Follow the children. Hear the joy in their laughter.
See the love in their eyes. Feel the hope in their touch.

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me ... The kingdom of heaven belongs
to people who are like these children." MATTHEW 19:14

Our Christmas Wreaths...

At Christmas play and make good cheer
For Christmas comes but once a year.

It's beginning to look like Christmas at home...the wreaths are up for the
Holidays. Bob...got to the Christmas decorations and soon our tree will be up too.
We still have some snow...and it is still very cold. Would be a nice day to make some
homemade...Breadpudding...hmm and a pot of hot tea. I also found a recipe for...
Teanog...I better get to the kitchen and look in my pantry. Have a warm & cozy day
with your loved ones.
I realize more everyday...how much I love my husband, Bob for who he is and I am
so thankful God heard my prayer ... at the age of 7 ... and gave me a good man
to spend my life with ... every day ... in the high and the low times of our
marriage and for such a wonderful family...we are blessed and for all this I am
grateful for all God's loving kindness he gives to us daily.

Another Day of Mudding...

Saturday...the second coating of mud went on the walls. Now...it needs to dry
over the week end and then on Monday...the job of the drywall guys is to be finished.
Yes!!! Then we can clean up all those floors and get the dust factor down in our home. It is looking good. I believe they went through 12-13 buckets of mud.
Look...at the photos and you can see the change in the second coat of mud that
was put on Saturday.

Downstairs ... more photos

A few more photos of downstairs. The bathroom wall up ready to mud.
And the closet/pantries in kitchen area now drywalled.

First Day of ...Mudding the Drywall

Another day of work...I can't believe Bob & I the night before mudding... not a sound could be heard...just sweep, sweep and sweep... and we got the floors all cleaned for the first day of mudding. Still to find more & more sweeping to do.
Also the shower is installed and the wall back up to be mudded there. Everyday
something is happening at our home.
Bob...finished the two closet/pantries and now drywall up and mud on. Today, Friday
the Second Day of Mudding.
Today... I hope we can find our Christmas wreaths and some decorations that are in storage downstairs...the dust might look a little like snow on them. With less then
2 weeks before Christmas...we need to get the Christmas Decorations up.
